A Swede in Aussie land

Welcome to Château Neilan-Rosberg!

So, as of Tuesday we are officially moved into our new unit in Greenslopes! We couldn’t be happier with the place and the location. It’s an amazing unit with lots more space than we actually need (but since when can you ever have too much space, right?) and it’s just simply marvellous. It’s a bit spartanly decorated atm, since we actually have to get everything new, starting from scratch. But that’s fine – as long as we have a bed to sleep on (thanks to IKEA) and a fridge to keep our food in (thanks to some lovely, generous friends!), I’m as happy as one can be!
So far there has been quite a few trips to IKEA – so to the point where I’m almost a little tired of it. But on the other hand it always does feel a little bit like coming home, with all the Swedish names of the things and furnitures (like GOSA the pillows or the pillowed heart HJÄRTA), the Swedish chocolate brand Marabou (that’ll cost you $9 dollars for a 200 g bar here in Australia, but would’ve cost you about $2.50 in Sweden!), the herring, the lingonberry jam and the cinnamon buns (kanelbulle in Swedish). And believe it or not, but the IKEA store here in Brisbane looks EXACTLY like the store in my little home town Helsingborg in Sweden. Seriously. It’s almost a bit freaky…

Anyway, stay tuned for changes that’ll certainly come within the near future! Have a look at the pictures below in the meantime.

Kitchen, including a hint of the largest fridge I’ve ever seen.

Hey, at least we have the matress!

Newly renovated bathroom with an awesome shower!

  1. Nice place! Certainly is bigger than the one you had on Söder. At least you guys have got lamps pretty much everywhere, I still move around in the darkness here like a vampire or something. Hope everything goes well with the new place and congratulations. Best regards, Vince!
